It uses many plants with proven health-promoting properties, such as ginger, which has been known and valued for almost 5,000 years. Ginger – what we find in its root

The plant in its natural form is found only in Asia and Australia, where it grows in many varieties, which, however, are mostly unfit for consumption. The variety we use in our kitchens is called ginger and we use its edible root, which has a characteristic, slightly spicy taste. This composition makes regular consumption of ginger extremely beneficial for long periods of health and has proven properties:

  • regulating the digestive processes. It prevents such ailments from the digestive system as vomiting and flatulence, it also has a diuretic effect, removing swelling, cholagogic and diastolic, it also increases the secretion of saliva and gastric juices;
  • antiviral and antimicrobial, which means that it is used to treat both serious infections and to alleviate the symptoms of common cold;
  • protecting against thrombosis by preventing aggregation, i.e. excessive accumulation of platelets;
  • soothing intense menstrual pains and joint pains. It is used in the treatment of arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, being a component of many ointments and warming gels;
  • increasing brain blood supply, which has an impact on better concentration and mental capacity;
  • lowering the level of bad cholesterol in the blood;
  • minimizing the risk of cancer;
  • improving blood circulation, diluting blood like aspirin and warming up the whole body;
  • Detoxifying, facilitating the removal of unnecessary metabolic products;
  • The high antioxidant content of the product slows down the ageing process;
  • strengthening the immune system, improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin and protecting many internal organs, including the liver, from disease;

Ginger also increases the effectiveness of metabolic processes by secreting digestive juices that stimulate the intestines to work more intensively. It is most commonly used as an addition to tea, which effectively warms up even on the coldest days. We also like to start reaching for sweet ginger candied in honey or marinated, which have already appeared in our stores. It is also a component of many dietary supplements, especially those recommended for slimming.

Ideas for dishes with ginger can be found on the Internet, but we must also remember that not everyone can eat it safely. Due to its sharp taste, it is not recommended for people suffering from gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers or other diseases of the digestive system. It should be consumed with caution in case of blood clotting problems and hypertension, and pregnant women should avoid it because of the possibility of irritation of the stomach wall. Other contraindications often mentioned by specialists, which completely exclude ginger from the diet, include haemophilia, liver failure, cirrhosis and thrombocytopenia.
